In Italy, after having investigated some reports, the Italian regulator warned a company to comply with the European regulation within days. This injunction implies, in fact, to stop the use of Google Universal Analytics or to configure it appropriately to the GDPR regulations. The episode in question concerns the use of Google Universal Analytics GA , the old version of the famous Google tool, and therefore does not refer to the newer GA Google Analytics Properties.The fundamental problem lies in the fact that the data analyzed with GA is then photo retouching forwarded to Google LLC's servers in the United States where it is openly accessible to government authorities such as the CIA and NSA. This transfer to US servers occurs constantly when using Google Universal Analytics. The most intuitive and safe solution is therefore to deactivate this measurement tool. But what's the verdict for the new version, GA ? Some, including Google itself, claim that Google Analytics is GDPR compliant and safe to use for European businesses. Others, however, are more skeptical and are looking for clarification before continuing to use this tool.
